Fangtastic fun
Scotland’s biggest Halloween Party hits Glasgow Science Centre on 31 October. Fancy dress competitions, spooky face painting, fire-eating demonstrations, workshops, ghost stories and goody-filled trails are just some of the treats in store for all the family.
Go bats at the zoo
Young ghost hunters and fans of all things creepy crawly are guaranteed a day of discoveries at Dudley Zoo this half term. History and horror combine on Shiverpool’s guided ghost tours through Liverpool’s streets. Be prepared for dark tales aplenty and surprises round every corner, as the city’s ghoulish past is brought to life. With three tours to choose from this Halloween, you’re guaranteed a spine-chilling time.
Spellbinding
Expect witchy goings on at Bristol Zoo this Halloween. Spellmaker-in-residence Ninny Noo is on the look out for apprentice wizards and witches to help with a zoo full of creepy creatures. Got a scary costume? Come along on 31 October to 2 November for your chance to win a prize.
Eyes to the sky
Put a bit of a bang into half term at the Flambards Heroes & Villains firework display on 29 October. Arrive early at the Cornwall-based outdoor park to meet a Cyberman from TV series Doctor Who and enjoy a host of thrilling rides and activities.
Historical All Hallows Eve
If history is your thing, make your way to Cardiff’s St Fagans National History Museum on 29–31 October. This popular attraction, with over 40 original Welsh buildings re-erected in the grounds, is offering an introduction to the foods and traditions associated with Halloween in Wales. Entry is free.
Dare to be scared
Newcastle’s Hallowtides Festival promises four days and nights of ghostly activities 29 October–1 November. Don’t miss the free Spooky Seaside Shindig on 31 October. Fancy dress parades, live music and a fireworks extravaganza are all on the programme.

One of Britain’s most haunted houses is waiting for you… At Tatton’s Old Hall you can help solve the Horrible History Mystery and take part in a quiz. Faces will be painted, masks can be made, and if you bring along a carved pumpkin you just might win the Petrifying Pumpkin Competition.
